Sydney

I met up with my sister in Sydney. She is currently living in Bulgaria and on her Spring Break so she was able to meet up with me for my week of independent travel. Our first stop was the hotel to drop off all of our luggage and get the lay of the land. We stayed right by Walloomooloo Bay, and although far off in the distance, we were able to see Harbor Bridge.
Our first whole day there we decided to go on a walking tour of the city and see the sights. On our way there we walked through Cook and Phillip Park and saw Saint Mary's Cathedral. I am amazed at the different varieties of vegetation that grow in Australia. There are plants the grow that I never even knew existed. Everything is beautiful and full of color.

Next to Cook and Phillip Park is Hyde Park. All the flowers and trees are neatly kept and there are memorials, statues, and fountains dedicated to the people who have been involved in Australia's history.

Taking Flight

The flight over to Australia was probably the most stressful and exhausting part of the whole trip. We traveled from Minneapolis, MN to Dallas, TX to Brisbane, AU and finally got to our destination of Sydney, AU. We left at 4:10pm on Friday, March 29 and arrived in Sydney on Easter Sunday, March 31. I never got to experience Saturday! we skipped right over when we crossed the International Dateline. I am not a big flight person. I tend to get anxious while flying, so it is helpful to sit next to a window so my brain can inform the rest of my body what is happening. I enjoy watching everything grow smaller and finally going above the clouds. It always makes me smile when a plane takes off from a very dark and stormy city, and then within minutes is bombarded by the sun with the clouds down below.
